Sports Business Portal uses one cookie. It keeps you signed in, and that is all it does.

Draft. This page still contains placeholder operator details and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Fill in lib/legal.ts and have it reviewed before the portal takes real sign-ups.

The one cookie

NamePurposeLifetimeType
sbp_sessionHolds a signed token identifying your account so you stay signed in between pages. Set when you sign in, removed when you sign out.30 daysStrictly necessary

It is a first-party cookie, marked httpOnly (JavaScript cannot read it), secure and sameSite=lax. It contains your user ID and an expiry, signed so it cannot be tampered with — no personal details are stored inside the cookie itself.

Why there is no cookie banner

Consent is required for cookies that aren't necessary to provide the service you asked for — advertising, or tracking you across sites. We set none of those. A strictly necessary sign-in cookie is exempt, so asking you to click "accept" would be theatre rather than a real choice.

We do count page views, using Vercel Web Analytics. It is worth being precise about what that does and doesn't do: it sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device, uses no identifier that follows you between visits or to other websites, and produces only aggregate figures — which pages were opened, from which country, in which browser. We cannot see who you are from it. That is why it needs no consent.

If we ever add something that does track you, we will ask first and update this page.

Turning it off

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking this one means you cannot stay signed in, so accounts, the dashboard and publishing a listing will not work — but you can still browse the portal while signed out.
